Subaru Reveals WRX STI Time Attack

RTHTR

Subaru, the Japanese automobile maker has come out with a road-legal and new version of the WRX STI. The company is hopeful of setting a new record in the month of May this year.

The model is being backed by the USA division of Subaru. The WRX STI is the all new race car that is legal on the road. This Japanese car manufacturer may once again reignite its much talked-about partnership with Prodrive, a Britain-based company that used to manufacture the WRC cars from Subaru.

It has been declared that Mark Higgins, the famous British rally driver and the present record-holder will drive the WRX STI Time Attack. It was in 2014 when Higgins had an incredible average of 187 km per hour and set the best time in a WRX STI of about 19 minutes and 25 seconds.

Though the roads were narrow, had big jumps with different types of walls, rocks and trees to cross as well as sheep and lamp posts to avoid, he was successful in topping 258 km per hour in his 2.5 liters STI.

Subaru declared that very little modifications were made to its 2014 model apart from some new springs, internal fire extinguisher, roll cage, Dunlop Derezza tires, and dampers. The all-new STI is truly a delight for all those enthusiasts who love fast sports cars.

Subaru claims that the new version is also road legal. The WRX STI is highly-tuned and is reportedly much more powerful compared to its street version.

The Never Ending Rivalry between Subaru and Mitsubishi

Subaru

It has been truly a constant rivalry between both Subaru and Mitsubishi. Both these vehicle makers were founded in the early nineties. This was the time when Subaru and Mitsubishi took part in the World Rally Championship and have been at loggerheads. The rivalry became even fierce when both these vehicle makers did away with their heavy, all-wheel drive and bulky WRC cars- Legacy (Subaru) and Galant (Mitsubishi) and moved towards manufacturing and promoting their lighter and more compact cars, namely Impreza and the Lancer.

By the year 2003, the rivalry between WRX vs. Evo was already fierce in the global car marker. Subaru made a strategic decision of sending its WRX model to the United States but Mitsubishi also followed suit taking its Evo 8 to the North American nations.

However, nothing is constant as they. When Subaru decided to pull back its WRX STI form the Detroit auto show last year, Mitsubishi made a crucial decision of stopping its production of the Lancer Evolution right after its 2015 model.

The fierce competition between Subaru and Mitsubishi that had once seemed to be never-ending for years and constant brawls that reached across the market may head for a ceasefire after those decisions. But there is a big question in the mind of car enthusiasts all over the world. When the production of Lancer Evolution is ended by Mitsubishi, what will happen to Subaru’s WRX STI? That’s a reply only time can give.

If you want to test drive a car, you can drop in at Pine Belt.

Pine Belt 1 SRT USA Team Aiming for Perfect Season in Rally America

The Rally America race season for the SRT USA team has been nothing but successful. Driver David Higgins and co-driver Craig Drew have already achieved victories in seven competitions with their 2015 Subaru WRX STI and now the team is looking for something more: a spot in the record books. No team has been able to achieve a perfect season in the Rally America National Championship since 1987, but Higgins and Drew are one race away from achieving this amazing feat. Even though the team has been dominant, they are not going into the Lake Superior Performance Rally feeling like they have already won. They are focused and read to leave everything they have out on the course. The team knows that the competition is going to be gunning for them and they cannot relax until they cross the finish line. Pine Belt Subaru in Lakewood wants to wish Higgins, Drew, and the rest of the team in their path to make history once again.
