The US Army is set to reintroduce the legendary Jeep as their vehicle to cruise on land. It is pertinent to mention here that the US Army had stopped using the Jeep in the year 1984. Back then, the army had started using the High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle, popularly christened as the Humvee or HMMWV.

The Jeep was originally commissioned on July 15, 1941. Subsequently, the vehicle became a popular representation of power and might during the Second World War. The variants of the vehicle were also used later during the wars in Korea, the Persian Gulf and the Vietnam.

In accordance with a report from the stables of Stars and Stripes, the U.S. Army is scouting for an economical, light, all-terrain and unarmored vehicle in order to ferry supplies and troops. In fact, the vehicle solutions company Hendrick Dynamics has submitted application for modifying a Jeep Wranglers for the army purpose.

Jeep, currently a brand from Fiat Chrysler, has been out of defense favor for a fairly long time. However, Hendrick Dynamics has some amount of expertise in changing Wranglers for the purpose of combat. The company has three different versions of the Commando Vehicle meant for commercial customers and government agencies. People might wait to see if the Jeep gets re-inducted into the defense corridors.
