Tips For Safe Winter Driving

In Lakewood NJ and the surrounding areas, we know that winter can wreak havoc on roads and driving conditions.  With winter on its way, the team at Pine Belt Chevrolet, Pine Belt Subaru and Pine Belt Chrysler Jeep thought it was a good idea to remind our friends and customers about how to stay safe while driving in inclement weather.

It’s Raining

  • It’s best to slow down by 5-10 miles per hour.
  • If your vehicle starts to hydroplane, try not to panic. Lift your foot off the gas pedal and let your vehicle slow down until it feels stable again.
  • Try to avoid driving through flooded areas, because it’s hard to determine the depth of water. Water can stall your engine.
  • After you’ve driven through a puddle or deep water, feather your brakes and take your foot off the gas.

It’s Foggy

  • As you approach fog, turn on your fog lights. If you don’t have them, be sure to use your low beams.
  • Pump your brakes before you enter a fog bank to alert drivers behind you to back off.
  • Slow down before you head over the top of a hill. You don’t know if a car has stopped on the other side of the hill because of the fog.

It’s Snowy or Icy

  • Drive 10 miles per hour below the speed limit to reduce the chance of sliding.
  • Slow down as you approach stop lights and stop signs, just in case there is black ice.
  • Be sure not to tailgate and give yourself plenty of room to stop in case the driver in front of you tries to stop suddenly.
  • Don’t use your brake while turning.
  • If you start to skid, turn into it so your car can correct itself and go straight.

Perseverance

The keys to growing and maintaining a business for 80 years are simple. You have to serve your community, serve your customers and persevere no matter what life throws at you. #PineBelt started with a one-car showroom in a garage in 1937. We grew to a 28,000 square foot facility on Route 88, 30 years later in 1967. Two years before we turned 50 years strong, a fire destroyed our entire dealership. But our employees and their families came together and had the business back open by building a temporary service facility within two days following the fire.

Three Generations

The Sickel family has run the Pine Belt automotive enterprise for three generations. Our goal has always been to provide the BEST customer service and create an environment for the most outstanding customer satisfaction. We have families that have done business with us through their own multi-generations since we opened for business. We are proud to be their choices for new and used car dealerships in NJ.

Jeep SRT Hellcat review- Part 3

Jeep Hellcat Release Date

This is the final part of the review for the Jeep Grand Cherokee TrackHawk. Please read the first 2 parts to find out about its build and engine.

Price

These details are yet to be released but rumors suggest that the 2017 Hellcat will be around $65,000 – $80,000. The price does a bit steep for an SUV but considering that it has 707 hp and is one of most powerful and street-legal SUV, it seems worth it. Not to mention that their competitors offer 150 hp less but have prices around $100,000.

Competitors

The Jeep Grand Cherokee TrackHawk faces competition from the Land Rover Range Rover Sport SVR and the Porsche Cayenne Turbo. The Range Rover comes with a 5.0L, V-8 engine that has 550 hp. It’s the fastest SUV released from Land Rover and can hit 60mph in 4,5 seconds. It comes with impressive handling and has recorded an impressive time of 8 minutes and 14 seconds on the Nurburgring track.

The Cayenne is currently setting the standards for SUV performance with it’s 4.8L V8 engine and 550 pounds of twist. It handles like a sports car and has better 60mph time than the Range Rover at 4.1 seconds. It also has a greater top speed at 173mph.

Both these cars make for great driving but are at least $30,000 more expensive than the Hellcat. They also have lesser horsepower and a higher 60mph time. With all this in mind, the Hellcat looks like a steal.

You can check out other competitors and see for yourself, which one is better by dropping down to the Pine Belt showroom.

Jeep SRT Hellcat review- Part 2

Jeep Hellcat Release Date

This is part 2 of a 3-part review. Please read Part 1 before continuing.

Interior

The interior is set to be styled the same way as others in the Hellcat family with a few small changes. The steering wheel will become a flat-bottom unit with a slightly thicker rim. The seats will have heating and cooling along with more aggressive sculpting for more comfort. The rest of the features expected to be standard with a touch screen infotainment system, an upgraded stereo and a U-connect system for navigation.

The rear is packed with plenty of cargo which can be improved even further thanks to the folding rear seats. Enhanced safety bags and seat belts are also expected to improve safety.

Performance

Like the rest of the Hellcat series, the TrackHawk will come with a 6.2L, V8 engine with 707 horsepower and 650 pound feet of torque. A ZF 8-speed automatic transmission system ensures that the power is equally distributed all wheels.

This mean that the Hellcat can go from 0-60 in 4 seconds with a top speed of around 200 mph.

If this is too much to handle, you can opt for the Grand Cherokee base version that comes with a 6.4L V8 engine that produces only 475 horsepower and a top speed of 160 mph. This is the current engine on the Grand Cherokee SRT, so you can get all the features of the Hellcat with a little lower power that you can handle.

You can continue reading this review in the next part. To see what the Jeep SRT Hellcat can do in real life, just drive in to Pine Belt.

Jeep SRT Hellcat review- Part 1

Jeep Hellcat Release Date

Jeep CEO Mike Manley confirmed that a brand new Grand Cherokee Hellcat is in the making. The new version is set to be called Jeep Grand Cherokee TrackHawk and is estimated to start production in July 2017. For those unfamiliar with the term, Jeep uses naming terms like TrailHawk for hardcore off-road models. Here is an in-depth look at the car to get you prepared for the launch:

Exterior

The exterior of the Jeep Grand Cherokee Hellcat is similar to that of Charger Hellcat.

Reports suggest that the TrackHawk will be built on the same skeletal system as the Mercedes Benz M-Class. However, the engineers are facing problems protecting the drive-line from the powerful engine’s torque bombs.

The exterior is set to have the 3 signature scoops on the hood and will upgrade to a larger front end for better airflow and cooling.

Other visual changes include bigger wheels and wheel flares, bigger brakes, smoked headlamp glass and a light body kit. All of this will make it comfortable to ride on all terrains.

To learn more about the Jeep SRT Hellcat, continue reading Part 2 and 3 of the reviews. To experience the car in real life, drive down to Pine Belt.

Subaru Uses Racing Success to Appeal to Active Generation

Pine Belt 1 Subaru Uses Racing Success to Appeal to Active Generation

In recent years, Subaru has had more success in competitive racing then it has ever had. A 2015 Subaru WRX STI NBR race car achieved victory at the Nurburgring 24-hour race. This would add to the two victories that Subaru Tecnica International (STI) has already achieved in this particular class. Out of all classes in the 2015 Nurburgring 24-hour race, Subaru concluded in 18th place overall and recorded 143 laps, which are both the highest achieved in the company’s history. Subaru wants to take this winning mentality and fun driving experience to production cars. This persona will begin with the 2016 Subaru Levorg GT that was showcased at the 2015 Frankfurt Auto Show. Expected for the European market, the Levorg GT will be powered by a 1.6-liter boxer engine that has an output of 168 horsepower and 339 pound-feet of torque. It will be equipped with enhanced safety features, an improved infotainment system, and sport-style seats. Subaru will be aiming to market to the active generations. Pine Belt Subaru is hopeful that high-performance, adventurous-style models will be introduced to the U.S. market.
