Subaru and Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Partner To Deliver 30,000 Blankets to Those With Cancer

Subaru Logo

During the month of June Subaru of America joined forces with Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) to raise awareness and money for cancer patients living with blood cancers through the US.  The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is the world’s largest voluntary health agency dedicated to the treatment and cure of blood cancers.  The campaign titled “Subaru Loves to Care” brought together 54 LLS chapters and 393 Subaru dealers in this effort and successfully delivered 30,000 blankets to cancer patients.

Along with the blankets, consumers who visited the participating dealerships also had the opportunity to hand write personalized notes to be delivered to local cancer patients; providing not only warmth and comfort to their physical bodies, but also for mind and spirits. In return for the notes participants received an LLS and Subaru bracelet, spreading awareness of the decease even further.

Both Thomas J. Doll, president and COO of Subaru of America, Inc. and LLS president and CEO, Dr. Louis J. DeGennaro we ecstatic and overjoyed with the outcome of this campaign and hope their combined efforts inspire others.

Come over to Pine Belt and enjoy test driving any Subaru car.

What You Need to Know Before Buying the Impreza WRX-STI: What to Look For – II

WRX STI

The Subaru Impreza WRX-STI is the lightest and rawest of the entire bunch and comes with a default torque split of 35/65.

If you have seen the model that was introduced in 2005, you will agree that it resembles its 2004 model year predecessor quite a lot. Though the interior of the 2005 got revised, the all-important and signature style immobilizer still continued. However, as compared to the 2004 Subaru model, the model introduced in 205 was slightly heavier. Apart from the weight difference, both these models more or less looked identical.

Come 2006 and Subaru came up with a grille that resembled somewhat similar to an Alfa-Romeo upside down and the torque split was further moved forward to 41/59 from front to rear.

The Subaru model of 2006 was also equipped with unique front control arms made of aluminum. There are many fans of Subaru who feel that the year 2006 was the best time for both the WRX and the STI.

2007 saw the vehicle featuring taller ratios for its gears as opposed to its earlier model. There were changes made to the ECU, as well as, the wastegate actuator.

In a serious attempt before Subaru could do its changeover to a GR-chassis hatchback, the carmaker launched what it called the STI’s grown-up version that was referred to as Limited.  The name itself indicates that these care are quite rare and only around 800 of them were sold in the United States market. The Limited editions had a leather interior and greater use of sound-deafening materials. They can be regarded as the Touring editions of Subaru STIs.

What You Need To Know Before Buying the Impreza WRX-STI: Modifications

WRX STI

When you find that an STI is relatively unmodified and is in a clean state, you should purchase it without much ado. Often, it has been noticed that overenthusiastic and aftermarket car owners have ensured that their cars have been considerably tuned. You need to understand that when you modify a car even from a factory, it devalues it.

And yet, if you are availing the services of respectable tuners such as Perrin and cob to upgrade certain parts of your Subaru Impreza, it is possibly fine apart from an array of aftermarket wheels.

When the car looks factory and yet you have your apprehensions, you can follow certain simple clues. For example, if you find that the heatshield that covered the factory turbocharger has somehow gone missing as it is cumbersome to put it back, the car may have gone through an aftermarket modification process.

It is said that even not quite some time back, all owners of a Subaru car waved at each other similar to the motorcyclists. In fact, they do that even now in a few parts of the country.

Subaru has forum portals such as NASIOC with a great and thorough depth of knowledge but they need to be read carefully. You can also join some of the local forums that are an excellent way of getting out and enjoying your Subaru STI with other Subaru owners. So join online forums, do some research by discussing with other Subaru owners and then own your STI. If you want to test drive a Subaru Impreza, you must visit Pine Belt.
