New Silverado Sports a New Engine

The 2017 Silverado HD has a new redesigned Duramax 6.6 liter, V-8 turbo-diesel engine available.

The new Duramax 6.6 liter brings to market an all-new and stronger cylinder block, a new control system and rotating assembly. These new changes provide a 445 horsepower engine to the 2017 Silverado.

Said Eric Stanczak, Silverado chief engineer, “The new Duramax delivers impressive output, but what customers will appreciate the most is an improved driving experience.” The new Silverado has quicker acceleration, better trailering up a steep grade, lower noise levels and better  braking on descent.

A new patent-pending vehicle air intake system in the redesigned engine drives cool dry air into the engine to sustain performance in difficult conditions. In conditions where engines and transmission temperatures can get hot quickly, providing cooler air will help the engine perform better towing a heavy load. The new system allows the Duramax to maintain more power and speed when trailering in the worst of conditions.

Duramax diesel engines have a bond with truck customers based on capability and trust. With the Duramax, the Silverado brings confidence to its customers with a Duramax engine.
