Chevy’s Goldilocks Special of Corvette’s

If you’re in the market for one of Pine Belt Chevrolet’s super cars you have two options: the Corvette and the Camaro. The Corvette comes in a few different models but the midrange is the “Goldilocks Special”. Okay, so maybe this isn’t the coolest name and that’s why it’s officially called the Grand Sport. It’s a mix between the Stingray Z51 and the Z06, and it’s a beauty.

Her Stats

She boasts an impressive 460 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque with her 6.2-liter V8 engine and dry-sump oiling system. The electronically controlled limited-slip differential with cooler comes standard, along with performance exhaust, but our car dealerships in NJ love the seven-speed manual transmission with the Z07 package. Cup tires, magnetic shocks, carbon-ceramic brakes and the highest-performance suspension are added with the Z07 package. Pine Belt Chevrolet is impressed.

What Can She Do

Imagine 60 mph in only 3.9 seconds. A standing quarter mile in a mere 12.2 seconds at 116.1 mph. Holy guacamole Batman! Pine Belt Chevrolet’s Grand Sport can move, even at 3,464 pounds. Wonder how it stops with that much power? The massive brakes take 90 feet and the sticky tires pull 1.18 average g on the skidpad. If you’ve ever wanted to attempt a figure-eight lap, you can do it at 0.96 g in only 22.3 seconds.

Get Her At Pine Belt Chevrolet

It’s hard to resist when you hear what the Goldilocks Special can do. She’s powerful, she’s sporty and she’s fun to drive. Head on over to Pine Belt Chevrolet to see what Corvette Grand Sport options we have at our Lakewood car dealers. You won’t want to leave her once you get behind the wheel.

The Worst Kept Secret in Motor City

shutterstock_365685428

Is the Motor City keeping a secret? Clues are everywhere, pointing to the notion that the C8 Corvette is no longer just a rumor. The infamous but non-existent and much denied C8 mid-engine Corvette was recently captured on film by Car and Driver Magazine on the GM proving grounds in Miford, Michigan. What is a mid-engine vehicle and why does anyone really care? Well, if you are a racing enthusiast, you know that out-of-this-world performance cars that run in Formula One or Indy races are mid-engine cars. Mid-engine cars have their engines behind the driver in front of the rear wheels. This better distributes the weight of the engine and creates more balanced handling of the vehicle. In essence, a mid-engine vehicle is one that MOVES and moves FAST!

Other clues the C8 is imminent include the trademarking of the names Corvette E-Ray and Corvette Manta Ray by GM this year. (GM loves to name Corvettes after monster-fish like Mako Shark and Stingray.) Also, the previous head of product development for General Motors, the incredible Bob Lutz, confirmed with the Detroit News that the $800 million recently announced by GM to be invested into improvements of the Bowling Green plant where Corvettes are produced, is the same amount he asked for to develop the mid-engine C8 back in 2007. Coincidence you say? Then why is the Bowling Green plant scheduled for hiatus in 2017, heh? That only happens when something big is going down.

Finally, the Detroit News podcast show, Mike and Mike, which covers the auto beat, recently podcasted an interview with reporters who claim they have confirmation the project is a go. The C8 mid-engine Corvette rumor has so much credence that it isn’t a rumor—Corvette die-hards are putting down deposits on a vehicle that is still running around the rumor mill and not down an assembly line!

We at Pine Belt Chevrolet are unable to confirm or deny anything regarding the rumored C8 mid-engine vehicle except, yea-hah, baby!

Top 10 Moments of Chevrolet – Part III

Pine Belt 2 Two Chevrolet B-Segment Cars Coming to Markets

This is the last part of this post that discusses the top defining moment of Chevrolet down the years.

#4: It was Corvette vs. the remaining world

In 2008, Corvette beat the famous monsters like Porsche, Ferrari and BMW to emerge as the winner for the 8th consecutive time at the Manufacturer’s Championship. It became a highly successful team in the history of American Le Mans Series.

#3 When Impala and Daytona created magic together

The date was February 20 1959 when the Impala, now a legend in its own right clinched its first victory in its first race ever. Bob Welborn’s lead foot and steady hand guided it and a new trend of dominance of Daytona started for the Chevy and is continuing even during the present times.

#2: Mr. Corvette arrives at France

Factory racing was banned unofficially in 1960 and this prompted Briggs Cunningham, the legendary sportsman to introduce Corvette to the racing car enthusiasts in the Continent. Corvette, thus made an international debut and got the first-ever victory for Chevrolet at Le Mans. The winning tradition of Chevrolet continues even today. It won the winner’s  trophy at the GTE Pro class in 2011 in Le Mans endurance race

#1 The first race of its kind

As the story goes, the founder of GM, William “Billy” Durant, invited the famous racing driver Louis Chevrolet and his brother Arthur in 1907 to race as an honor for being his own chauffeur. Louis was already a racing sensation internationally easily surpassed Arthur. Billy was completely stunned when he saw how Louis did not even pay heed to his personal safety and gave the coveted job to Arthur right there. Yet, Louis came out victorious in the long run.  With continuous backing from Billy, just a few years later, world saw the birth of the first Chevy.

Top 10 Moments of Chevrolet – Part II

Pine Belt 2 Two Chevrolet B-Segment Cars Coming to Markets

#7 Cruze’s amazing victory in WTCC

It surprised many as Chevy decided to depart from its signature style big displacement V8s in 2010 when it participated at World Touring Car Championship. It was just a season before that the BMWs had been dominating all over the world. Chevrolet achieved two major milestones in the championship be winning the Manufacturer’s Championship, as well as, the Driver’s Championship that year. It proved that a replacement for large displacement does work.

#6 1998 Daytona 500 Is won By Dale Earnhardt

Dale Sr. had been chasing the checkered flag for 19 years before conquering the Daytona 500 finally.  This was his first and sole win at the “Great American Race”. What followed thereafter is regarded as one of the most emotional moments in the history of sports when both the competitors and crews shook his hand while he drove the car slow and enjoyed his long drive to Victory Lane.

#5: It was Corvette vs. the remaining world

In 2008, Corvette beat the famous monsters like Porsche, Ferrari and BMW to emerge as the winner for the 8th consecutive time at the Manufacturer’s Championship. It became a highly successful team in the history of American Le Mans Series.

#4 Jimmie Johnson did it for the 5th time

Jimmie Johnson proved in 2010 that winning has become a habit for him.  He had ridden of-road Silverados to stadium S-10s and tasted success in all. In 2010 he rode a V8 Chevrolet car and clinched the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Driver’s Championships for the fifth consecutive time. It was an unprecedented feat and he was the first driver to achieve such an accomplishment.
