Jeep Is Now An SUV Heavyweight

As a result of the SUV revolution Jeep has become Fiat Chrysler’s dominant big-volume brand.  Combined with Ram, Jeep is now the automaker’s foundation stone, according the Detroit News.

“We were a niche brand just a few years ago,” remembers veteran Jeep designer Mark Allen.  Now Jeep has grown to a full-line ute-maker.

While Chrysler-Dodge sales have stagnated, Jeep is taking charge of all-wheel-drive ute dominance.  For example, in 1992 Jeep sold 268,724 cars in the U.S.  In 2016, it sold a whopping 926,376. It is also surfing the SUV wave in Europe, South America and China. It’s considered Chrysler’s first international brand.

In 2009, Jeep had four plants in the U.S. This year, it has 10 plants in six countries.

At Pine Belt Chrysler-Jeep, we’re thrilled with the new growth of the Jeep brand, but we’re not surprised.  Jeep offers classic designs and unique looks, provides 4 X 4 capabilities and offers greater visibility on the road, thanks to its height advantage.  It can also be customized and personalized so it’s easy to make it your own.

This is the concluding part of the history of the evolution of Chrysler. Read on to know more.

The timeline saw the graceful evolution of the various Chrysler products as its bigger cars started becoming more refined. Other key highlights during the era were the Cordoba and the LeBaon, a  convertible car.

1988-1998

The late eighties of last century saw a fresh line of cars that were Euro Japanese in spirit. These were concept cars such as the Millennium (1989) and Portfolio (1988). The mid-size Concorde sedan of 1993 stared the renaissance of Chrysler.

Chrysler History – Part 1

New Yorker

Chrysler has a proud lineage and a long history. It all started in between the years 1920 to 1924 when 3 engineers namely Carl Breer, Owen Skelton and Fred Zeder teamed up with Chrysler so that they could  create a revolution by designing a remarkable car and the rest is actually history.  It was the same team that conceptualized the various products that the Chrysler brand would constitute of. They thought of “luxury vehicles” that could be affordable to the masses and came out with superior and innovative engineering.

In 1924, Chrysler Six was churned out. It was a brand new car that cost $1,565 and sported 2 major innovations. For the first time, there was a 4-wheel hydraulic brakes that were available as standard features in a passenger car.  The Chrysler Six was a well-equipped car that also had indirect interior lighting, shock absorbers, tubular front axles, full-pressure lubrication, air filters, replaceable oil and aluminum pistons.

1930 to 1935

Only within a decade from the time of its initial launch, thanks to its being a leader in the field of innovation, the Chrysler Corporation came to be referred as the “engineering company” of Detroit. Chrysler had a long list of “firsts in the field of automotive innovations such as the following:

  • 1-piece curved windshields
  • Downdraft carburetors
  • Replaceable oil filters
  • Floating Power that was a fresh technique to mount engines so that vibration could be isolated.

With its premiere Imperial series, Chrysler made its entry into a competition at a higher level. An Imperial in the early thirties of the last century gave a stiff competition to a  Duesenberg as far as the styling is concerned but was priced at just about one third the price of the latter. The Imperial came with a body that was build in a customized manner from Briggs or LeBaron, had an engine that produced a horsepower of 125, a wheel-base measuring 145-inch and was priced at $3,145.

Choose any Chrysler and get ready for a test drive at Pine Belt.

2017 Chrysler Pacifica Scores Near Top on Minivan Mpg

2017-pacifica-performance-stability

The upcoming Chrysler Pacifica is one of the strongest contenders when it comes to fuel economy in its class. The Chrysler Pacifica of 2017 provides a fuel mileage of about 28 mpg on highways and is a fuel-efficient alternative to gasoline thirsty SUVs and large crossovers. Within the city, the Pacifica returns a respectable 18 mpg with a combined mileage overall of approximately 22 MPG.

The figures are competitive when measured against the Town & Country’s (2016 model) mileage of 25 mpg on a highway, 20 mpg when driven on both city roads and highways and 17 mpg when driven inside the city. The mileage delivered by this all-new minivan makes it one of the most highly efficient vehicles in the class to which it belongs.

While the fuel economy numbers are certainly impressive for the standard 3.6L V6 engine that provides a horsepower of 287 with a smooth 9-speeed automatic transmission; those looking for excellent fuel economy have something more to look forward to. Later this year, Chrysler will release a plug-in hybrid version of the Pacifica. While there is yet to be definitive numbers, Chrysler has stated that the innovative vehicle could achieve up to 80 MPGe. Additionally, Chrysler would implement the usage of a stop-start feature that can increase the fuel economy numbers in the real-world as well.

When compared to top competitors like the Toyota Sienna and Kia Sedona, the Chrysler Pacifica meets or exceeds their fuel economy numbers, providing a brand new approach to minivan driving that is modern, stylish, luxurious and best of all, fuel efficient.

If you want to test drive a Chrysler Pacifica, or get a great deal on the outgoing but popular Chrysler Town and Country, you can visit Pine Belt to do so.

2017 Chrysler Pacifica – Safety features

2017-pacifica-safety-rear-back-up-camera

The all new Chrysler Pacifica for 2017 is powered by a series of safety features including airbags in the side of the front seats, an antilock braking system, a rearview camera, airbags for the knees of the front passengers and driver, airbags for side curtain and stability and traction control.

Warning while the minivan departs from a lane

The Pacifica not only helps you in keeping safe, as well as secure but it is also helpful in keeping your minivan on track using its proprietary Lane keep Assist and LaneSense® Lane Departure Warning systems. It is equipped with a vision sensor that is camera-based for detecting and measuring the position of your vehicle within the boundaries of a lane. When a driver drifts into a lane unintentionally, the system starts functioning by giving the driver a visual warning.

Forward Collision Warning Plus

Who would not love to have an additional pair of eyes? The new Forward Collision Warning System, with its Active Braking System is perhaps one of the best things that could have happened to the 2017 Pacifica. It will then provide you with assistance to avoid an accident as it offers visual and audible warnings. In the event that it becomes necessary, the Pacifica can provide autonomous braking.

Rear back camera

The 2017 Pacifica is equipped with a rear back up camera (ParkView®) that features Cross Path Detection in the rear. The camera provides a much wider view and comes with active grid lines for the area right behind the driver so that it is simpler and safer to park.

Reinventing the Minivan with the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica

Pine Belt 2 Reinventing the Minivan with the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica

Chrysler is reinventing the minivan with SUV-like style and high-tech features. Additionally, it will be the first-ever hybrid minivan. Chrysler’s first-ever minivan drove off the assembly line in 1983. It quickly became the ideal vehicle to haul children as it offered sliding doors and a spacious cabin. By the early 1990s, over 500,000 Chrysler minivans were being sold each year. The 2000s marked the downfall of minivans in the U.S. market as crossovers became increasingly popular. In 2015, Fiat Chrysler sold less than 200,000 minivans in the United States as sales of the Chrysler Town & Country decreased by 28 percent. The 2017 Chrysler Pacifica has been developed to change all of that around. The minivan was revealed at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show. The Pacifica has a sleeker design, lower ground clearance, larger wheels, and more luxurious features. The traditional sliding doors will have no handles and be hands-free. The minivan will be powered by a 3.6-liter V-6 engine that delivers 287 horsepower. The hybrid version will have an electric driving range of 30 miles. Pine Belt Chrysler-Jeep is excited to offer our customers the all-new Pacifica.
