The New Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk

A 707-horsepower SUV that carries five PLUS all of their camping gear?  Yes, it’s true.  The 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is considered one of the most ridiculous creations in the automotive universe, and for great reasons.

Motor Authority says it’s the most vicious Hellcat you can buy. Under the hood, you’ll find a 6.2-liter Hemi V-8 with a 2.3-liter supercharger pushing 11.6 pounds of boost to create the horsepower.  That thrust is routed through a strengthened all-wheel-drive system, delivering 0-6 mph in just 3.5 seconds and blasting through the quarter mile in a mere 11.6 seconds.  Oh, and it reaches a top speed of 180 mph.  Wowza.

While most Hellcats are LOUD, this baby isn’t, thanks to mufflers borrowed from the Dodge Durango SRT.  The idle isn’t loud, either. You only get the Hellcat roar when you bury the throttle.

However, there is an ECO mode that enabled by a button on the dashboard, but it feels like you’ve ripped off the claws out of a Hellcat.

Head Or Tail Lights Burned Out?

If you’ve got a tail light or headlight out, you need to fix it as soon as possible or you can get a ticket.  The first step is to look online or in your Chevrolet owner’s manual for the type of replacement bulb you need. Then head to an auto parts store or get the part from Pine Belt Chevrolet. Lights are usually easily removed by popping them out of the back side of their housing.  Just unplug the old bulb and slide the new one in.

 

Got A Dead Battery?

There’s nothing more frustrating than going out to start your car and the battery won’t turn over.  Before you buy a new battery however, you’ll want to test it to make sure it’s completely dead.  You can use your own tester or charger, or you can take it to one of many auto part stores that will test it for free. It’s also smart to clean off any corrosion that is present with a metal brush.

To remove the old battery, simply unbolt the negative terminal, first, and then the unbolt the positive one. Some batteries have a ground wire that also needs to be unplugged. Once done, simply reverse the steps for putting in a new battery.

Luke Bryan Teams Up With Chevrolet

Country star Luke Bryan is known for his “Huntin’, Fishin’ and Lovin’ Every Day” mentality, and now Chevrolet has teamed up with him to create a Suburban Concept for Huntin’, Fishin’ and More.  He recently introduced the Suburban at the SEMA show during the automotive personalization and performance exposition.

Celebrate the Holidays In Lakewood Township

The Scoop About Driving on Icy Roads

Hey, we live in New Jersey.  Of course we know how to drive on icy roads, right?

 

Not so fast.  Just because you’ve got lots of experience driving on icy roads, doesn’t mean you can drive faster than 45 miles per hour.  That’s right.  Experts say the fastest you can drive on icy roads is 45 mph.  But they actually recommend driving 10 miles per hour.  Because you can slide off the road in treacherous black ice going that slow.  More importantly, you aren’t usually the only one on the road, and while YOU may  be experienced driving on icy roads, the people around you may not be.  They could easily spin out or slide into you, unless you are keeping your distance from them—and driving at a slower speed.

  • If you don’t have to go out on an icy day, don’t.
  • Read the weather forecast so you know what to expect.
  • Wear a seat belt at all times. Each year, there are many road fatalities that happen because someone had a minor accident on an icy road, but a seat belt wasn’t worn.
  • Don’t stop for accidents or stranded vehicles. Yes, it’s nice to be a Good Samaritan, but pulling over to the side of the road on an icy highway can cause other drivers to brake and lose control.  It’s better to call 911 and report the issue and let them handle it.
  • Icy road accidents tend to be in multiples. Once one car spins out or control, other drivers tend to do the same.  that’s why you should leave plenty of room between you and other drivers and drive at a very slow rate of speed.

Subaru Supporting American Red Cross

In the wake of the wildfires rampaging through the western United States as well as the recent hurricanes, Subaru of America has donated an additional $100,000 to the American Red Cross.  This is in addition to the $100,000 annual donation made by Subaru to the organization.

 

Subaru is a platinum member of the non-profit’s Ready 365 Giving Program and also had matched its annual support with an additional $100,000.  That brings this year’s total donation to $300,000.

 

“At Subaru, it is part of our Love Promise to help our neighbors in times of need. We strongly believe it is our responsibility to support our communities,” said Thomas J. Doll, president and COO of Subaru of America, Inc. “When we watched the devastation that has hit some of the areas, we knew we had to do more. While we know the need is great, we hope these funds will help to provide some support to those in the areas that need it most.”

 

Subaru also enhanced and extended its existing matching gifts program to establish a way for Subaru employees to help support recovery and relief efforts.  Through the new program, employee donations to eligible organizations  will be matched $2/$1 for all relief efforts through November 30 of this year.

2018 Jeep Wrangler Features Leaked

At Pine Belt Chrysler-Jeep, we love a good secret.  And the secret’s out about the new 2018 Jeep Wrangler and its standard features.  It appears that at launch, the JL will only be offered with the tried-and-true 3.6-litre Pentastar V-6.  It appears there is a 3.0-litre diesel V-6 and a “Hurricane” turbocharged four cylinder in the works, but Jeep is keeping mum about it.  The JL does offer a choice of automatic or manual transmission.

There are three different “flavors” of Jeep, so to speak:  the Sport (base), Sahara and Rubicon.  The Sahara is the middle ground, splitting the difference between the Sport and the Rubicon with a mix of off-road-ready gear.  The Sahara and Rubicon both have a 220-amp alternator, standard. By having more amp, you’ll have more breathing room for accessories and tools like light bars and winches.

How To Make A Winter Emergency Kit

Winter in New Jersey can be tough on drivers.  There’s snow, sleet, rain, wet and icy roads, short days and long nights.  That’s why it’s smart to put together a Winter Emergency Kit for your vehicle.  If your car breaks down or you get stuck in the snow, it’s a good idea to be prepared.  The service experts at Pine Belt Chevrolet, Pine Belt Subaru and Pine Belt Chrysler-Jeep put together this list of items that would be helpful if you find yourself stranded during harsh winter weather.

  • .first aid kit
  • windshield scraper
  • a metallic space blanket or wool blanket
  • cat litter, road salt or and for road traction
  • battery cables
  • a cell phone charger
  • emergency flares and a flashlight with extra batteries
  • snacks, like energy bars, nuts, dried fruit or packages of food you can eat hot or cold
  • water
  • extra gloves, a warm hat and socks

If your vehicle is stranded or stuck, call 911.  Let them know your name, phone number, location, number of people that are in your vehicle, your license plate number and make and model of your vehicle.  Come to an agreement with the emergency operator about what you are going to do.  If you do decide to leave your vehicle, leave a note with your name, phone number, time of day you’re leaving the vehicle, which direction your are going in and what you plan to do.  Put the note on the dash of your car—inside, so it can’t blow away or get ruined by rain or snow.  Make sure the note could be read by someone standing outside your car.
