Chevy And IBM Work Together To Brighten Drivers’ Days

shutterstock_306947240

Have you heard of IBM’s supercomputer named Watson? It’s a highly intelligent machine that can analyze trends in human speech and knowledge to answer questions that would be difficult for anyone to solve. It can make word associations and take logical steps in managing complex problems that would be almost impossible for a computer or a human. But lately Chevy has partnered with this technological wonder to make the world a more joyous place and help people “find new roads.”

So how does Chevy’s new Global Positivity System, conveniently abbreviated GPS, function? To begin, Watson looks at social media sites like Facebook and Twitter to observe the happiness and positivity that people are showing the rest of the world. It can find various phrases and small things like emoji use to determine a person’s mood and how they are affecting other people. Based on these factors the computer will award people who spread cheer and happiness with rewards like free gas. And even people who are having a difficult day can receive free fuel; after all, everyone needs a pick me up every now and then.

In conjunction with this happiness to fuel rewards system, Watson can assist people in experiencing Chevy’s tagline: “find new roads.” Based on previous and current travel destinations and activity interests, it can find new locations to visit or sights to see, to really help brighten your day or enjoy something new. Chevy has designed a global campaign around this slogan, and are hoping people take it to heart.

To participate in the fun and rewarding Global Positivity System, visit Pine Belt Chevrolet for the best deals on all our makes and models. We have a great inventory of new and pre-owned models.  Come see for yourself!

The All New Electric Chevy Bolt Passes The 200 Mile Range

chevy-bolt

Transitioning to an electric car is one of the simplest ways to save money on gas while improving air quality. Electric cars such as the Chevy Bolt use a powerful battery to move the car forward rather than diesel or unleaded gasoline, which means they don’t emit any carbon byproducts. These batteries are being upgraded and improved each year in order to make the car more powerful and able to drive longer. The newest Bolt model has a stunning 238-mile range, a huge leap in distance from previous versions.

Range is the most important word when it comes to electric cars. For years scientists and engineers have worked to efficiently use each charge and propel the car the farthest. The range estimate takes into account the number of miles a vehicle can travel in a mix of city and highway conditions, and this year Chevy has finally eclipsed 200 miles.

This milestone per se is a huge increase that passes all other competitors, with the Tesla Model S being the only other electric car to provide more than 200 miles this year. This range is crucial in assuring car drivers that electric cars are worth investing in, and that mile benchmarks will keep on rising. A longer charge appeals every driver, and with a larger adoption of electric vehicles it would incentivize companies to build even more charging stations around the country.

To test drive a new Chevy Bolt when it makes it dealership debut, come talk to our friendly sales team at Pine Belt Chevrolet. We want to be your dealership of choice!

chevrolet-traverse

The Traverse has a 3.6 liter, V-6, direct injection engine that uses regular gas. The horsepower runs at 288 with a six-speed transmission. The top trim on the Traverse, the LTZ, sports a dual-exhaust.  Handling in the Traverse is very stable and the overall National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gives the Traverse its highest five-star rating. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, gives the Traverse its highest rating of Good in all categories.

The interior of the Traverse is incredibly roomy. It has three rows that seat eight comfortably. Adults are not at all cramped in the third row. The Traverse makes it very easy to get in and out of the third row seat with a second row seat that slides forward and back. The LTZ trim has leather captain’s chairs that are heated in the LTZ trim, as is the steering wheel. A premium Bose stereo and blind spot monitoring are also included on the LTZ trim. Where do you go if you have to take your car to be serviced? Local garage? Dealership? Easy to answer. Dealership. They are trained experts on YOUR vehicle and whatever the issue, they won’t be guessing and they will fix it right the first time.

If you only have time to get to the local garage, make sure the mechanic is A.S.E. certified. These are trained mechanics and can give you better peace of mind that someone capable is working on your car.

Don’t be afraid to ask questions about why they are doing something or how something works. You are the customer and should always be learning more about your car.

Chevy To Launch New Vehicles at LA Auto Show?

shutterstock_306947240

The sun of Summer has fallen and the leaves of Fall are falling. Where does the time go? Before you know it, auto show season will be upon us.

Rumors are circulating that Chevrolet is going to debut two vehicles at the LA Auto Show in November. Along with the rumors is plenty of speculation. Is it the Chevy Colorado ZR2? It has been two years since the concept of the ZR2 debuted—so the possibility does exist. To further flame the fire on the ZR2, spy photos circulating on the internet show what looks to be the ZR2 is ready to roll off the line next year.

Could it be a new crossover? The Equinox and Traverse have both been seen, also in spy photos. Maybe something brand new like a SUV smaller than an Equinox or bigger than a Traverse or vice-versa?

Perhaps a sedan? A sighting of a Chevy Cruze diesel mobile has been seen around on the streets of Detroit.

The possibilities seem to be incredible and the guessing endless. Still, which will the chosen one be? Well, whatever it is Chevy has up its sleeve, or behind the curtain, will be worth waiting patiently to see.

Whether you are planning on a purchase or lease of a new vehicle, dreaming of one, or needing maintenance on your current car or truck, come on into Pine Belt Chevrolet Subaru Chrysler Jeep. There’s still a while to go until the LA Auto Show. So, let us reveal to you a few of the amazing vehicles in our new or certified pre-owned inventory.

Chevrolet Colorado Goes Army

chevy-colorado

A research and development arm of the U.S. Army will soon be revealing a fuel cell electric vehicle on a Chevrolet Colorado platform.

In 2015, the Army and General Motors formed an alliance allowing the Army access to GM technology for the consumer market for military use. GM, in exchange, would receive information and feedback on these applications in fuel cell technology.

Charlie Freese, executive director of GM’s Global Fuel Cell Activities, is extremely excited about the alliance. “This project is another example of how fuel cell propulsion can play a role in non-traditional applications. We need to continue pursuing these opportunities along with our plans for production of a commercial fuel cell system in the 2020 time frame.”

The Director of the U.S. Army Tank Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center (TARDEC) Paul Rogers commented, “Hydrogen fuel cells as a power source have the potential to bring to the force incredibly valuable capabilities.”  The capabilities the military are looking for include more quiet vehicles, creating power and electricity away from a vehicle and more off-road capabilities.

Pine Belt Chevrolet is also excited by the collaboration of our parent company, General Motors and the U.S. military. The further development of fuel cell technology has far reaching applications to both the consumer market and the the military. It is important work and there is no better group than General Motors to give it support.

When you’re in the market for a new or pre-owned vehicle, we hope you’ll come see us at Pine Belt Chevrolet.  Our team is committed to providing you with a quality experience, every step of the way.

chevy-cruz

Do you ever long for a car that is simple but stylish, strong but comfortable, smart but even smarter? If so, then the all new 2016 Chevy Cruze is all about you.

They call the Chevy Cruze a small size sedan, but has interior roominess that makes it feel so much more like a midsize sedan. The ride is very smooth like a larger type sedan, too. The engine puts out 153 horsepower with a 1.4 liter turbocharged gas engine and six-speed transmission. This combo gives you 40 miles per gallon. Yes, 40. A smooth ride and fuel efficiency makes the Chevy Cruze good for a long haul drive to the casino in Bangor, Maine with all the money you save on gas.

The controls and touch-screen display on the interior of the Cruze are placed within reaching distance of the driver. The seats are totally comfortable. The rear seats fold flat, but if you prefer a 60/40 split, a higher trim is for you.

There are four Cruze trims with great features on all, like an infotainment center, 4G LTE connectivity and an audio system. Safety features include 10 airbags.  While these features totally make the Cruze desirable, you can also go a little more off the edge and add a few amenities like a sunroof and controls on the steering wheel. If you want to go totally over the edge, on the Premier trim, you can add a great BIG Bose system for that long haul to Bangor.

If you pine for a sensible, comfortable, smooth riding, fuel efficient sedan that will get you to Bangor, Maine and back without breaking the bank, come and see us at Pine Belt. Let one of our amazing Sales team members take you for a test-drive. One of our Finance team members can put you in a Chevy Cruze from Pine Belt today. Come on in.

Out With the Box — In With The New Chrysler Pacifica

chrysler-pacifica

For those of us still in shock at the passing of the beloved Town & Country minivan, Chrysler is trying its best to make it an easy transition by presenting a two-million dollar makeover—the Chrysler Pacifica minivan.

The new Pacifica minivan has much of what we loved about the T&C, like the standard stow-and-go seats and lots of cargo space when the seats are packed away. The Pacifica adds lots of connectivity, power outlets and cubby storage. It now makes available foot-operated power sliding doors, heated second row seats and important new safety features.

The shape of the new Pacifica minivan is wider than its predecessor and its shape makes it more aerodynamic, improving fuel efficiency. The engine is a 3.6 liter Pentastar V-6 improved for greater power—287 horsepower, and fuel efficiency—31 miles per hour on the freeway while doing 75 mph. The engine works with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Merging and passing is a breeze with this engine. Even with its power, the Pacifica minivan is a nice ride, with plenty of damping to smooth over the bumps.

As mentioned, the stow-and-go seats are still with us, although not stowable with the touch of a button yet. There is a button to put the front seats as far forward and back as needed to stow the second row seats, however. The third row seats are power operated and fold into the floor with the touch of a button.

The cabin is comfy and quiet with noise levels at 63-decibels when cruising— unless you are banging out AC/DC on the 20 Harman Kardon speakers with a 760-watt amplifier available with the the UConnect Theater and Sound package. Yeow.

While there will always be a soft spot in our hearts for the T&C, the Pacifica more than makes up for our loss. Pine Belt Chevrolet invites you to test drive the new Pacifica minivan and see for yourself what a wonderful new addition to the Chrysler lineup this vehicle makes. Let one of our top-tier Pine Belt Chevrolet Sales and Finance team members put in you in a Chrysler Pacifica today.

The Airwaves Under Fire

Pine Belt 2 Two Chevrolet B-Segment Cars Coming to Markets

That Marconi opened up a can of worms with wireless telephony. Each generation of technology depending on the airwaves—telegraph, radio and television—have had to battle for a chunk of their broadcast real estate. This generation of wave riders is no different—the battle for data space on the spectrum is on fire. It’s the Automotive giants vs. Tech giants.

What’s the beef? Silicon Valley is out of room for its data spread and they want a piece of the space given to the Automotive industry by the FCC 17 years ago. In 1999, the automotive industry was awarded spectrum space as they developed safety features that require wireless (read data) communication capability.

The ability for a car to brake automatically requires vehicle-to-vehicle communication if it senses that a crash is imminent. For example, the 2017 Cadillac CTS-V has this technology. And for a car that can move 200-mph, dang straight you want a heads up.

To share the space allocated to it by the FCC, the automotive industry would incur huge costs and work. They would have to totally redevelop the technology on which its safety systems work and the hardware upon which vehicles already ride. Not a pretty picture for automotive commerce.

Pine Belt Chevrolet Subaru Chrysler-Jeep understands these safety and communication issues are important to you. The impact to vehicles on the road, the automotive industry and the safety of you and your passengers cannot be understated. We at Pine Belt Chevrolet Subaru Chrysler-Jeep invite you to visit us to test drive the many vehicles loaded with today’s latest technology both in communication and safety.
