Owner of American NASCAR team, Hendrick Motorsports, Rick Hendrick did not hold anything back at the Barrett-Jackson auction event in Scottsdale, Arizona as he purchased three rare C1 Chevrolet Corvettes for $1.65 million. The Corvettes are from the 1955, 1956, and 1967 model years, each sporting VIN 001. Not only does the VIN make the Corvettes rare, the vehicles have been kept in pristine condition. Hendrick is not new to receiving models that have VIN 001 as he already has a 2010 Camaro, 2011 Camaro convertible, 2014 Corvette, and 2015 Corvette convertible with that particular VIN in his collection. Hendrick didn’t just stop at three rare C1 Corvettes. He purchased a 1969 Corvette convertible for $525,000. The Corvette is one of 116 examples that were fitted with the L88 engine. Mississippi State University has finally received its 2016 Chevrolet Camaro for the EcoCar 3 Competition. The Camaro is equipped with a 3.6-liter LGX V-6 engine. The team at MSU needs to enhance the Camaro’s fuel efficiency and reduce its emissions, but still maintain its power and performance. The MSU team plans on increasing the vehicle’s fuel economy to 60 mpg and win the competition once again as the team was victorious in the EcoCar 2 competition in 2012. Graduate student Stephen Hayes stated, “Our architecture is very aggressive, so we hope to blow everybody away.” Experience a Chevrolet Camaro for yourself at Gregg Young Chevrolet in Omaha.
