Pine Belt 2 Subaru Forester Showcases its Capabilities in Extreme Winter Conditions

With compact SUVs currently being the hottest segment in the automotive industry, Consumer Reports wanted to find out how some of the top vehicles in the segment perform in extreme winter conditions. At its Auto Test Center in Connecticut, Consumer Reports tested three of the top compact SUVs (Subaru Forester, Honda CR-V, and Toyota RAV4) that are still equipped with their all-season tires. The tests involved straight-line acceleration, braking, hill-climbing, and taking on sharp corner turns. The straight-line acceleration test showed that the Subaru Forester was able to accelerate to 60 mph in 12.1 seconds, surpassing the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4 by 1.2 and 2.3 seconds respectively. After undergoing braking tests, results showed that the Forester and RAV4 took about the same distance to come to a halt from 60 mph. It took almost 50 extra yards for the CR-V to come to a stop. During the hill-climbing and corner tests, the Forester showcased its superiority. The all-wheel-drive system worked the way it was meant to as it responded to the driver’s actions and maintain traction throughout the track. After conclusion of the weeks-long tests, Consumer Reports proclaimed the Subaru Forester as the clear winner in snowy conditions. You can experience the all-wheel-drive system on a Subaru Forester for yourself at Pine Belt Subaru in Lakewood.
