In recent years, Subaru has had more success in competitive racing then it has ever had. A 2015 Subaru WRX STI NBR race car achieved victory at the Nurburgring 24-hour race. This would add to the two victories that Subaru Tecnica International (STI) has already achieved in this particular class. Out of all classes in the 2015 Nurburgring 24-hour race, Subaru concluded in 18th place overall and recorded 143 laps, which are both the highest achieved in the company’s history. Subaru wants to take this winning mentality and fun driving experience to production cars. This persona will begin with the 2016 Subaru Levorg GT that was showcased at the 2015 Frankfurt Auto Show. Expected for the European market, the Levorg GT will be powered by a 1.6-liter boxer engine that has an output of 168 horsepower and 339 pound-feet of torque. It will be equipped with enhanced safety features, an improved infotainment system, and sport-style seats. Subaru will be aiming to market to the active generations. Pine Belt Subaru is hopeful that high-performance, adventurous-style models will be introduced to the U.S. market.
